Basketball craziness is upon us, and I love it. The NCAA Tournament always gets me excited, although I must confess that each year my bracket usually ends up nothing like I make it out to be. This year, I think it’ll be a little different…I think I might do better than years past.
My Final Four this year are:
:: Duke
:: Memphis
:: Connecticut
:: Florida
My prediction is that Duke and UConn will play in the championship game (ala…’98? ‘99?), and that UConn will win it all.
Some people make their predictions on team favorites, emotions, stats, history, whatever. I’ve done that in the past, but this year I kind of rolled all those factors up into one.
:: I’m not really the biggest Duke fan, but do I think they’ll lose to Texas in the Atlanta region? No.
:: Memphis? Where the heck did they come from? Conference USA, that’s where. And I think they can beat perennial powerhouse Kansas, and either UCLA or Gonzaga. They’ve had a phenomenal year, and I think they will go far.
:: UConn. Amazing this year. I think the only stumbling block in their region is North Carolina – whom they will beat handily.
:: Florida, ok, now here I might just be a little crazy as I am banking on them to face both Ohio State and Villanova and beat them both. I’m not a Gator fan at all, nor do I even remotely like the Buckeyes…if I were more of a betting man, I’d say that ‘Nova takes the region…but I have a feeling – and I just hope Florida pulls it off.
The only home team I really care about is Arizona, and unfortunately I think Wisconsin will knock them out in the first round. I was raised a Wildcat (despite my Sun Devil education), and I would love to see them go far, but it’s just not going to happen.

I’d like to wish the ASU women’s team good luck in their game on Saturday against Stephen F. Austin. My wife and I will actually be in Tucson, but we won’t be going to the game. I’m still boycotting the women’s team for appalling conduct I witnessed off-court at a ASU/UA match at Wells Fargo Arena a few years ago. I understand that you were bitter and upset about losing to UA that night, ladies, but that gave you

If only my Weber State Wildcats were in the tournament. Then they could make a run at the Final Four.
i rang in the madness today by watching approximately 1,000,000 hours of basketball.
i'm glad that BC pulled out that win in 2OT because i have them going a (very) long way.

I just noticed that the other day. I know our Final Four is a little different, but great minds must think alike when it comes to predicting a winner. He has the year they last met up correct (1999)...I guess I was too lazy to look it up.
Bear down ARIZONA! Bear down Red & Blue!!! I hope the Wildcats go far too!
Well, the Villanova Wildcats seem to be on their way... :(
