Well, I've just got done with reading all sorts of other blogs saying that they are now Presidential Managment Fellow Finalists. I however, am not. This is ok. Everyone I've talked to about it has expressed condolances as if I just lost a love one. It's a good program, and I think I fit the bill for the type of person they want, but the competition is steep, and I just didn't make it. Plus, I think I knew that in San Antonio WHEN I HEARD THE JUDGES TALKING ABOUT ME BEFORE I HAD A CHANCE TO GET 10 FEET FROM THE DOOR!
But anyway, as I said before, I am a finalist for the New York Public Management Institute (which PMF was patterned after), I've interviewed for a job at SRP (and hopefully another soon), and I am considering applying for an EPA internship. So, I have options. I'm flexible and talented, and should be optimistic about my chances elsewhere.
I've pretty much thrown the idea of law school out the door. I don't want to practice law, and I don't know if I'd be any good at it. I don't want to work70 hours a week and neglect my family either. I think that studies in law are helpful in any profession, and maybe someday later in life, I'll do a one-year Master of Studies in Law (a handful of law schools have them). You don't have to take the LSAT, but these classes aren't transferrable to a JD program either.
So, this brings me to a Ph.D. I think that's what it's going to be. But, as a trusty advisor recently told me that a few years in the workforce will make me more credible. Obviously - but this brings me back to a crucial point - employment.

As my wife pointed out on her blog, we celebrated our one-year anniversary yesterday. I hope that we have many, many more to look forward to!

Hi John! I am sure you probably dont even remember me but I decided to say hi anyway. It's probably been 8 years or so since I've seen you. This is Adrienne Calhoun (now Cash) from Winslow (now Coweta, Oklahoma). Drop me a line sometime and let me know how you've been doing. My email is adriennecash@gmail.com.
Happy Ides of March! And, congratulations on your game plan. I think you'll be great. I thought you'd be great as an attorney (given your mock trial stats :D), but if this suits you better, yippee! I'm proud of you.
