Today seems melancholy at best, but seeing as it's before noon, I shouldn't give up hope that maybe it will get better. Holli and I got home from a camping trip to the Grand Canyon yesterday, and it was (more or less) the first time this native Arizonan had ever seen it. I say "more or less" because I had glimsed a brief scene from somewhere along the South Rim that didn't show the grandeur that most of the known world has seen in at least a photo.
The trip kind of started off rocky. One of the couples bowed out due to rising gas prices -- attributed to Hurricane Katrina. Damn Katrina. Then, we received news that Holli's brother and his wife wouldn't be making it because she works for the Red Cross and had to work all weekend. Holli's sister and her boyfriend/fiance'/whatever-he-is-at-the-moment had to bail because they were carpooling with the brother and sister-in-law. At some point or other we were all angry about it because it was going to cost us more money -- myself mainly because I wanted to do something else that weekend with Holli, but when her sister and her husband (the main planners of the trip) asked us, and seeing as Holli was excited to see her family, I couldn't say no. Needless to say, I got over it, and had a pretty good time.
On a different note, I present a criticism: the musical group, The Click Five. Truth be told, I really can't stand them. As a music lover, someone who sings, and someone who can play a few instruments, I am usually non-discriminating when it comes to people showcasing their talents. However, this quintet seems to have researched the movie "That Thing You Do" beyond obsession while attempting to regurgitate a reincarnated Beatles or Dave Clark Five look with the matching suits and floppy haircuts. A link to their website boasts "100% New School Power Pop! The world's newest arena rock band!" which, as anyone will find, is really crappy, bubble-gum pop music used to enchant 13-year-old girls premature hormones out of them, and forcing their mothers to cough up money to buy the CD's, a poster of the band, and tickets to some mall tour. Keep up this type of music and surely they'll find a lucrative career with too much airtime on Radio Disney. I was going to include a link to their website, but I'd only be contributing to my annoyance. So, Google them if you wish, and turn your sound down, because their only hit will replay and replay...and replay.
Damn Katrina.

You crack me up. I am another anonymous, by the way. I might have posted earlier...hmmm. There are at least two of us though. I found your wife's blog via yours and I think she was curious to know who I am. I'd post my name online and all, but I think a certain Bambo from high school will suffice. :) Good to see you're around!
Time to post again!
John! When are you gonna update this thing? I don't have a life, so humor me! :)
